Keep the layout simple

Simple layouts are the easiest to execute. For example, by simply lining up blocks of photos and text along the left-hand margin you can create an attractive design (see Sample layout for a charity's three-fold DL leaflet).

For any publication that has multiple pages, make sure you understand the flat plan of the leaflet. For example, one of the most popular sizes for leaflets is the three-fold DL leaflet. The flat leaflet is A4 in size and is folded using a letter fold (illustrated on the left). To design this type of leaflet, you need to set-up two landscape A4 pages in your desktop publishing application (as illustrated in the middle).
